Slipping into Darkness is an alternative rock band from Desert Hot Springs, CA that was formed as a three piece band back in 2011. The original members Michael Durazo (vocals/guitar) and Nigel Dettelbach (bass) met in a car ride on their way to a party, where they realized they shared the same passion for 60s and 70s rock n roll music. They eventually became good friends and started the band that they would name Slipping into Darkness, which at the time had more of a garage/psychedelic rock sound.

Later they would meet Adrian Carreno (lead guitar) in Mexico and made the trio a four piece band, which slowly began to evolve their sound as time went by. They quickly got a following from the local desert music scene in the Coachella Valley and would continue to play shows and festivals all over the southwestern U.S. and Mexico.

They eventually got invited to play the main stage at the 2013 Coachella Music & Arts Festival as well as back to back appearances at the Desert Daze festival. In 2014, the band released their debut album Shurpedelic. Soon after, they began to share stage and tour among many esteemed rock/aternative bands like Chicano Batman, The Adicts, The Growlers, Thee Oh Sees, Shannon and the Clams and many other talented artists. Their music has also been featured in countless skating videos and in soundtracks for action indie films like Vigilante Diaries and Pay Dirt.

As the band matured, so did their music. Eventually they met Damian Garcia (drums) and Emanuel Casarez (guitar) who would both give the band the full sound they needed and complete them as a five piece band. In September 2020, the band will release their second full length album named Second Wind for Our Love which was produced by Eduardo Arenas of Chicano Batman and Pete Dee of The Adicts.
